Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge and Connected Cars have started a cooperation that goes far beyond classic maintenance. With real-time data and telematics, a new ecosystem for fleet customers is to be created - and this is just the beginning.

Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge and Connected Cars A/S have formed a strategic partnership to integrate digital solutions for commercial vehicle fleets. The aim is to link the systems of both companies and increase vehicle uptime through real-time data analysis and predictive maintenance.

As part of the collaboration, Connected Cars' CC-Link telematics hardware will be integrated into Volkswagen's Connect Pro fleet management system, in combination with the CC-DataStream cloud platform and the ConnectedWorkshop interface. The international rollout is expected to be completed within the next five years, starting with the core European markets.

These features are the focus

The core of the integration is the collection and use of vehicle data in real-time. The installed CC-Link modules continuously deliver technical condition data directly to the backend system. Workshops and dealers have access to this information via the ConnectedWorkshop platform and can immediately view diagnostic fault codes.

“By integrating our hardware and platform into Connect Pro, predictive maintenance becomes a reality on a global scale,” said Jesper Hill-Kjærsgaard, CEO of Connected Cars A/S. The systems allow service partners to initiate necessary repairs before a breakdown occurs - a measure that is expected to significantly reduce unplanned workshop visits.

Several benefits for fleet customers

For commercial vehicle operators, the integration offers several advantages: A unified data base allows for more efficient maintenance planning, informed decisions in fleet operations, and the possibility of wireless software updates. Vehicle availability is increased through shorter downtimes, which directly impacts productivity.

According to Kersten Lange, Head of Product Marketing & Connectivity at Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, the collaboration fits with the company's digital strategy: “With connected cars, we are opening up new possibilities for our business customers - particularly in the area of intelligent service planning.”

How is the introduction planned?

The implementation will be phased: In the first phase, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge will focus on strategically relevant markets to gain practical experience and make regional adjustments. Full integration in all markets is planned within five years.

Special focus is placed on training service partners and building the technical infrastructure. This ensures a long-term and standardised introduction, with each market being integrated according to its needs.

The partnership aims to drive digital transformation in the after-sales and fleet sectors. By combining connected hardware and intelligent analysis, a new level of customer engagement is created, with a focus on service quality, transparency, and availability.
