Daimler Truck adopts the AI platform LibreChat
Daimler Truck states that innovation and co-determination must be aligned to ensure responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Daimler Truck
As one of the first DAX-listed companies, Daimler Truck is making the open-source solution LibreChat, developed jointly with AWS, available to employees worldwide to unlock the potential of artificial intelligence.
Daimler Truck has defined its strategic
direction in artificial intelligence by favouring an open-source
approach. The company has introduced LibreChat, an application further
developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), and is providing
access to all employees worldwide.
LibreChat connects to various large language models,
including GPT and Claude, as well as image generation systems such as DALL·E.
Employees can create individual AI agents and chatbots and share them
internally.
Andrea Seidel, Head of IT Transformation at Daimler Truck,
describes artificial intelligence as a key driver of
sustainable workplace transformation and as a foundation for shaping the
company’s future development.

AWS provides scalable cloud infrastructure
The technical infrastructure for LibreChat is delivered via
Amazon Web Services. According to Daimler Truck, the cloud architecture ensures
flexibility and adaptability. Specific functionalities were developed before
launch for the company, including a SharePoint connector that integrates
internal knowledge systems directly into the AI platform.
Daimler Truck also offers AI solutions from other providers
but does not rely solely on proprietary end-to-end systems. By deploying
LibreChat, the company maintains influence over the platform’s ongoing
development. According to the company, this enables targeted adaptation to
internal and external requirements, transparent cost structures, and compliance
with regulatory and security standards.
AI governance aligned with co-determination
The works council was involved in the implementation
process. Daimler Truck states that innovation and co-determination must be
aligned to ensure responsible use of artificial intelligence. A group-wide works agreement governing the deployment and
use of AI has been adopted.
AI applications are already being used within the
organisation to partially or fully automate repetitive tasks. With LibreChat, the focus is on expanding automated
workflows and deploying AI agents capable of handling multiple tasks
simultaneously. More than 3,000 AI agents with various functions have been
created and integrated to date.
