The new organisation is intended to cover development services across the entire product lifecycle, from concept work through hardware/software development and validation to the operation of digital and physical products.

Porsche Engineering and Porsche Digital will operate as Porsche Technologies from the second quarter of 2027. The new unit will combine vehicle development, software and AI, with around 2,700 employees across nine countries worldwide, serving Porsche and external customers.

Porsche is bringing Porsche Engineering and Porsche Digital together under a single brand. From the second quarter of 2027, both units are set to operate as Porsche Technologies. The sports car manufacturer wants to link traditional vehicle development more closely with software, artificial intelligence and digital services. The offering will serve Porsche itself as well as external customers in the automotive industry and other sectors.

How will Porsche combine engineering and software?

Porsche is responding to the growing importance of software-based vehicle functions and the increasing complexity of connected development processes.

Porsche Engineering will contribute expertise in vehicle, architecture and systems development as well as software engineering. Porsche Digital adds experience in digital products, services and customer interfaces. The combination is intended to connect development disciplines that have previously been organised separately.

How will Porsche use AI?

Data analytics and artificial intelligence will form another focus. AI is expected to play a larger role in product development, engineering processes and the toolchains used by the organisation. The future portfolio will also include the development of AI-supported products and services.

“With Porsche Technologies, we want to combine the best of two worlds, sharpen these capabilities and advance them in a targeted way,” said Michael Steiner, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche AG. According to Steiner, the new organisation is intended to play a central role both in Porsche’s strategic development activities and in business with external automotive and industrial customers.

Porsche Technologies will therefore not work exclusively for Porsche. Its services will also target customers in commercial vehicles, aerospace, maritime industries, defence and medical technology. Existing industrial customers of Porsche Engineering, in particular, are expected to gain access to Porsche Digital’s digital capabilities.

Who will lead Porsche Technologies?

Porsche Technologies is scheduled to begin operations at the start of the second quarter of 2027. Markus-Christian Eberl, currently CEO of Porsche Engineering, will lead the new organisation as CEO. Stefan Zerweck, currently CEO of Porsche Digital, will join the management team as Chief Technology Officer. Dirk Philipp, currently CFO and COO of Porsche Engineering, will retain both roles at Porsche Technologies.

The future development network will comprise around 2,700 employees across locations in nine countries: Germany, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Israel, the United States and China. The international footprint is intended to support development services across locations while also addressing specific regional requirements.

In China, the two companies will continue the cooperation already established at a joint research and development site under the new brand. Porsche is combining international development capacity with regionally focused activities.

The creation of Porsche Technologies comes as Porsche reorganises its portfolio of IT and development services. The sports car manufacturer recently announced the full sale of its management and IT consultancy MHP to Indian IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). According to a mandatory Tata filing, the company is valued at €320 million.
