What do OEMs, suppliers, and tech start-ups need to do now to ensure AI-supported vehicle functions are reliable and safe on the road? Deloitte manager Andreas Herzig draws a clear conclusion after the AI Assurance in Mobility Europe in Berlin.
ADT: What expectations did you have when you travelled to AI-Assurance-in-Mobility Europe in Berlin?
Herzig: My expectations were towards a high-quality exchange on various technical aspects around the topic of AI-Assurance in Automotive; an increasingly urgent problem. The agenda with the many expert contributions that would illuminate the topic from different perspectives reinforced this expectation. In terms of scope and size, my expectations were in the direction of the "Automotive Software Strategies" conference, which I have been attending and supporting for years.
What are the key aspects you took away from the discussions?
AI-Assurance-in-Mobility Europe
The "AI-Assurance-in-Mobility Europe" conference is also planned for 2026. Further information regarding the event can be found here.
The speakers were present and accessible throughout the event. The composition of regulation, TÜV, OEM, and engineering was well chosen and also led to lively exchanges after the presentations and during the breaks.
What are the recommendations for companies?
The topic of AI-Assurance-in-Mobility is rapidly evolving and can be further enriched by practical approaches and solutions from both domestic and international sources. Deloitte is intensely focused on the topic of software quality in vehicles and consequently on transferring these concepts to AI-based systems or finding new solutions to achieve the goal of sufficient reliability and quality of software. For this purpose, we collaborate with OEMs, engineering companies, and technology startups. From this circle and from our own experiences, I can contribute thematic suggestions and speakers.
