Robotaxis developed by Amazon subsidiary Zoox will soon be bookable via the Uber app. Services are set to launch in Las Vegas later this year, with Los Angeles following in 2027.
Robotaxi developer Zoox and Uber have announced a multi-year
partnership. As part of the agreement, Zoox’s autonomous
shuttles will be made available through the Uber app. The commercial
launch is scheduled for Las Vegas at the end of this year, followed by Los
Angeles in 2027. Users will also continue to access the service through the
existing Zoox app.
Zoox has been developing its purpose-built autonomous
robotaxi since 2014. The fully electric shuttle is designed specifically for
urban mobility and does not rely on traditional driver-operated vehicle
architecture. With the new partnership, Zoox aims to expand its commercial
presence and reach additional user groups through Uber’s global platform.
After earlier setbacks in autonomous
driving development, Uber has shifted towards building a platform that
integrates services from multiple robotaxi providers. The strategy allows the
company to expand beyond traditional ride-hailing services while leveraging
different technology partners across regions.
In several US cities, including Austin, Atlanta and Phoenix,
users can already book robotaxis operated by Waymo
through the Uber app. Uber has also established partnerships with companies
such as Lucid, Nuro, Momenta and the Volkswagen
subsidiary Moia.
