Joynext and Nextchip are developing integrated ADAS solutions for global vehicle programmes. Their partnership combines the APACHE6 AI SoC with camera systems, software and system integration, while targeting scalable and cost-efficient platforms for future vehicle architectures.

Joynext and Nextchip have entered into a strategic partnership to develop the next generation of intelligent driver-assistance systems. The companies intend to create integrated ADAS solutions for global vehicle programmes and software-defined vehicle architectures.

The cooperation responds to rising requirements for driver-assistance systems. More demanding NCAP safety standards in Europe and North America are increasing the need for compute performance, image processing and software integration. At the same time, ADAS systems must remain scalable and cost-efficient across international vehicle platforms.

How will APACHE6 support camera-based ADAS functions?

The cooperation centres on integrating Nextchip’s APACHE6 automotive platform into Joynext’s vehicle platforms. The system-on-chip was developed for next-generation driver-assistance systems and combines an image signal processor with a neural processing unit.

This allows the platform to process image data in real time and execute AI algorithms directly in the vehicle. Relevant applications include object detection, lane keeping and environmental perception. Joynext will complement the semiconductor platform with software, connectivity and system integration.

How will the platforms scale for global OEM programmes?

The joint solution is intended to adapt to different vehicle architectures and the requirements of international vehicle manufacturers. The partnership therefore covers the technical integration of the APACHE6 platform, the development of ADAS and vision solutions, and compatibility and system testing.

The companies also plan proof-of-concept projects, demonstration vehicles and joint customer validation. Joynext and Nextchip intend to organise technical workshops, technology days and customer demonstrations. The results are expected to feed into development programmes and tenders in Europe and North America.

Why is ADAS becoming part of the SDV architecture?

The cooperation extends beyond conventional driver-assistance systems. Joynext and Nextchip are explicitly aligning their work with software-defined vehicles. This includes intelligent camera systems, central high-performance computers and highly integrated vision solutions.

These systems must meet rising requirements for computing performance, over-the-air updates and functional safety. For vehicle manufacturers, it is therefore crucial that hardware, software and vehicle architecture are aligned at an early stage. This is the interface the two companies intend to address.

How will the partnership support series platforms?

The partnership expands Joynext’s international technology network. The aim is to bring semiconductor technologies into production-ready vehicle platforms more quickly and support OEMs in developing software-defined vehicles. For Nextchip, the cooperation provides stronger access to global vehicle programmes. For Joynext, it reinforces the company’s position as a development partner for automotive electronics, connectivity and driver-assistance systems.
