New cooperation of the Nio brand
Firefly relies on map data and services from Here
Location-based services are intended to enhance the digital user experience and navigation in Firefly brand models.

Nio's more affordable sub-brand Firefly will soon be supplied by Here with map data and location-based services for electric vehicles and driver assistance systems. Here aims to strengthen its presence in China, while Nio aims to strengthen its presence in Europe.
Firefly relies on the global maps from Here for cooperation, including connected navigation and ADAS. Additionally, Nio's subsidiary uses the current speed limit data from Here to meet the requirements of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) in the EU.
Due to the partnership between Here and the US navigation service Telenav, Firefly will also integrate various location-based services from Here. These are intended to provide a modern user experience in the digital cockpit and navigation, especially in electric cars - including real-time traffic data.
Chinese brands continue to advance
Chris Chen, Vice President Global Business Development at Nio, sees Here as a "reliable partner" that can help the Chinese company meet "international regulatory and safety-specific standards".
In the global electric car market, Nio has recently grown and delivered over 42,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2025. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a growth of 40.1 percent. With Firefly, this momentum is to be accelerated and Nio's reach expanded to a more cost-conscious segment of electric car customers.
“Chinese EV brands are currently strengthening their global presence. To this end, Here equips them with AI-powered location intelligence solutions that set the global standard for live maps,” adds Deon Newman, Here's Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific.
