Audi sharpens driver assistance and cockpit experience across key models

The update is designed to enhance safety, usability and digital comfort in parallel.

Audi is introducing a comprehensive digital and hardware refresh for several PPE- and PPC-based vehicles. The update focuses on smarter assistance systems, revised user interfaces and expanded in-car entertainment features.

With the transition to the new model year, Audi is introducing a broad update package across five vehicle lines: A5, A6, Q5, A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron. The refresh combines new hardware elements with extended software functionality across exterior lighting, driver assistance and in-car interaction. The update is designed to enhance safety, usability and digital comfort in parallel, rather than treating individual vehicle systems in isolation.

Lighting, driving dynamics and assistance systems

One of the most visible hardware changes concerns lighting technology. For the A6, Audi is introducing digital Matrix LED headlights based on micro-LED technology. The system enables highly precise light distribution and personalised light signatures, selectable via the MMI. Functions such as lane-guidance lighting can project orientation cues onto the road surface and visually warn of unintended lane departures. The LED daytime running lights are segmented into 48 individual elements per headlamp, allowing eight selectable digital signatures. At the rear, the digital OLED tail lights 2.0 adapt accordingly, with 198 segments per side enabling dynamic lighting effects.

Audi is also refining driving dynamics and driver assistance. A new “Dynamic Plus” mode within Audi drive select is designed to deliver a more rear-biased and engaging driving character, particularly in the S5 and S6 e-tron. In the S5, features such as the standard quattro sport differential and brake torque vectoring translate this setup into sharper, more agile handling.

With the “Trained Parking” function, up to five parking manoeuvres can be stored and automatically executed on private property.

In many markets, an enhanced version of the adaptive driving assistant is now available. In addition to lane-keeping support with hands on the steering wheel, the system can assist with motorway lane changes when initiated by the driver. Urban safety functions are also being refined: traffic sign recognition can automatically adapt vehicle speed to posted limits. The optional Park Assist Pro gains expanded manoeuvring capabilities, including automated steering when reversing over the last 50 metres and the ability to store up to five trained parking manoeuvres, each up to 200 metres long, for automated execution on private property.

The infotainment system supports Bluetooth connections for external game controllers, allowing games to be used conveniently on the MMI passenger display.

Reworked interfaces, AI voice control and in-car gaming

Inside the cabin, Audi has placed a strong emphasis on usability and clarity. New steering wheels reintroduce physical controls in place of some capacitive touch surfaces, simplifying operation while driving. The digital cockpit adopts a cleaner layout inspired by the Q3, allowing drivers to choose between classic round instruments, a navigation-focused view or an integrated driver assistance display.

A factory-integrated dashcam is now available as an option. Mounted at the base of the interior mirror, it records high-resolution 4K footage and captures the full scene ahead of the vehicle.

Audi is also expanding the capabilities of its voice assistant. By accessing vehicle documentation and integrating ChatGPT, the system can answer more detailed questions about the car and interpret less precise spoken requests for navigation or media. A growing number of driver assistance functions can now be activated and adjusted via voice command.

The update further introduces configurable “mood scenarios” that synchronise ambient lighting, sound, seat massage and climate settings to create either energising or relaxing in-car atmospheres. Each scenario runs for between five and 30 minutes.

Finally, Audi is enhancing its in-car gaming offering. Game controllers can be connected via Bluetooth, improving gameplay for titles such as Asphalt Legends. Wireless headphones can also be paired for a more immersive audio experience, while the Audi Application Store expands its catalogue with additional games, including Queen Rock Tour.
